IATF 16949

Automotive standard describing the quality management system requirements of manufacturers and suppliers in the automotive industry.

The IATF (International Automotive Task Force) has released the new IATF 16949 (1st edition 2016) standard on October 1, 2016 which will replace the ISO TS 16949. This automotive standard describes the requirements for the quality-management-system for the production of cars and relevant services.

The standard has three objectives:
1. Support the development of the quality-management-system
2. Realize continuous improvements
3. Emphasize the importance of fault prevention and the reduction of waste and variation within the supply chain.

IATF 16949 regards itself as a complement to ISO 9001:2015 as well as customer-specific requirements.
