ZVEI – Zentralverband Elektrotechnik- und Elektronikindustrie e. V. represents the economic, technological, and environmental political interests of the German electrical industry, with is characterized by medium-sized companies.

The association has 1,600 members and 849,000 employees throughout Germany (2016). The total sales come to 179 billion euros (2016), with the electrical industry the third largest industrial sector after mechanical engineering and the IT sector, even ahead of the automotive industry. There are also 704,000 employees worldwide, making their value creation the most globally interconnected. Each year, the industry spends 16.2 billion euros on research and development.
