FMEA experts discuss “Made in China 2025”

China has long since become one of the most important markets in the world - and not only in the automobile industry. There is hardly any other country in which vehicle sales have gone up so rapidly in the last few years although the numbers in the wake of the auto crisis are currently slightly down. But China does not only play an important role as an exporting country. Almost all manufacturers as well as the most important automotive suppliers have their own sites for development and production in the Middle Kingdom. And especially in the recently badly affected automotive industry, the importance of FMEA and risk management is again increasing significantly. The demand for expert know-how and target-oriented network offers is correspondingly high, like the 2nd international FMEA Forum China by DIETZ CONSULTANTS, which took place at the end of October in Shanghai with great success.

Under the motto “Made in China 2025”, more than 160 participants, mainly from China but also from USA and Europe, exchanged ideas about current developments future trends and best-practice solutions for two days. “Besides the responsibility of manufacturing systems, China is also undertaking their development. This requires innovation and risk management”, explains FMEA expert and moderator Winfried Dietz. “Shanghai is an ideal location for an FMEA forum, which combines international expert knowledge like no other in China and for China”, adds Lassie Li, Senior Consultant and General Manager, DIETZ CONSULTANTS China.

The view through the auditorium proved the moderators of DIETZ CONSULTANTS right. Representatives from Research and development, Production and Quality Management of international groups such as FotonDaimler Automotive, Brilliance Auto, Continental, Daimler, Volkswagen China, CRRC, Johnson Electric, Brose or Schaeffler sat there. The keynote speakers of groups, OEM and tier 1 suppliers were also distinguished from experience. These include Jiancheng He, Senior Quality Manager VDA QMC China, Simon Crowhurst, Global Head of Quality and Reliability Johnson Electric, Dieter Hellwig, Chief Expert Corporate Sector Purchasing und Logistics Robert Bosch, Deepankar Thakur, Global Supplier Quality Engineering General Motors and many more. They spoke about the FMEA in the process of development and production, shared their knowledge about the role of risk management for reliability and zero-error principles or reported on efforts in the company taken early on. They had numerous examples, with which they offered the participants a view of the practice.

"Our FMEA Forum China has already established itself as a platform for international experts and the professional exchange of specialist topics and best practice in its second round”, Dietz is pleased about the very good response and announced the continuation of this success story: The 3rd international FMEA Forum China is to take place in October 2019.
