FMEA Forum 2020: 15th international network meeting with top speakers and a new workshop concept

FMEA know-how 4.0 – Cut costs and boost benefits for improved audits and effective project successes – from March 24 to March 26, 2020 in Osnabrück

The automotive industry is facing challenges. To overcome the associated innovation and cost pressures, it is all the more important to minimize development and production-related risks. “An effective and efficient FMEA is fundamental for this, and our Osnabrück FMEA Forum is the perfect network meeting for gaining valuable knowledge and forging contacts,” emphasizes Winfried Dietz, Managing Director of DIETZ Consultants. Over the last one and a half decades the FMEA Forum has developed into the number one international industry meeting for FMEA and risk management and will be taking place for the 15th time on March 25 and 26, 2020 – for the first time at the Alando Palais Ballhaus and for the first time with an innovative workshop concept on the day before the actual Forum (March 24). Registration deadlines for the FMEA Forum and optimization workshop are running.

“The FMEA Forum in Osnabrück is a success story. It makes us proud to look back on it and has also motivated us to find a few special program items for the anniversary,” says Dietz. We have succeeded in doing so with the new venue at the Alando Palais, which is connected to the Osnabrück Holiday Inn, and the list of speakers, which once again promises a lot of new ideas and best practice suggestions. Topics range from effective and efficient action management to the requirements that OEMs, customers and certifiers place on automotive industry suppliers. And not to forget the updated version of one of the top talks in the history of the FMEA Forum: Information Security for FMEA Content, in which Andreas Altena from Sollence GmbH and Thomas Haase from T-Systems Multimedia Solutions GmbH demonstrate as a live act what sort of consequences the actions of participants can have in practice. Plenty of surprising and eye-opening moments are guaranteed.

Diverse speakers, varied supporting program

This also applies to the entire program of varied and exciting talks. It ranges from topics such as “Interface FMEAs versus FMEA Interfaces – Effective Interface Planning” (design FMEAs with Riccardo Stüber from Schaeffler Technologies AG & Co. KG), to the talk by Prof. Dr. Ralf Woll and Marcus Branke, M. Eng., from the Brandenburg University of Technology Cottbus-Senftenberg: “Bringing FMEA Thinking and Tools into Everyday Engineering Work”. Under the motto “FMEA Mission 2020 – the Future Needs the Past”, there will also be an interactive look back at the FMEA Forum 2015, during which the participants had anticipated future developments. “It will be exciting to compare the results of that time with today’s reality and derive valuable approaches for further methodological developments,” says Dietz, with a sparkle in his eye. Alongside the talks, the supporting program offers enough time for networking in a relaxed atmosphere, including the traditional kale dish at the Rampendahl brewery in Osnabrück.

FMEA optimization workshop on the day before and highlight talk

As in previous years, the FMEA forum will not only be informative, but above all also interactive. And this will already be the case the day before the event gets underway: the innovative optimization workshop will give participants the opportunity to actively improve their knowledge in the fields of FMEA moderation, FMEA documentation and risk communication as well as FMEA action tracking. The Appreciative Inquiry workshop method will help them gain FMEA expert knowledge with solutions designed specifically for implementation planning. The results will be presented at the FMEA Forum and subsequently published in the form of “FMEA Guides”. Another interactive element that has become established at the Forum is the unique FMEA Coaching Slam. It, too, will be relaunched in March 2020 for the 15th anniversary.
